WENDELIN FREY
1928 - 2004
Mr. Wendelin Martin Frey, beloved husband of Mrs. Evelyn Frey of Barnwell, passed away on Saturday, April 3, 2004 at the age of 75 years.
Wendel was born at Fox Valley, Saskatchewan on November 5, 1928 to parents Peter and Pauline Frey. He was raised in Fox Valley where he received his schooling. He moved to Medicine Hat and worked as a salesman for Dominion Fruit and it was at this time he took a keen interest in the Rodeo. In 1968 he began W. Frey Trucking and married Evelyn Louise Souther on August 29, 1974. Wendel was instrumental in the formation of the Alberta Senior Citizen's Sports and Recreation Association and was president of the Taber 5 Pin Bowling Association. He enjoyed bowling, as well as, baseball and golf.
Besides his loving wife Evelyn, he is survived by four children Rick (Colleen) Souther, Diana (Harvey) Weimer, Ron (Louise) Souther and Kim (Mike) Tremblay; a son-in-law John Ward; 16 grandchildren Cherie, Ricky, Charles, Kathy, Jill, Jo-anne, Dustin, Aisha, RJ (Ron), Brent, Trevor, Leha, Danny, Sarha, Lisa and Ashley; 18 great grandchildren Amanda, Jade, Aspen, Cetan, Saje, Zedona, Jacinta, Alanta, Cassandra, Samantha, Tyler, Mark, Axel, Michael, Eric, Lindsay, Brooke and Amber.; a sister Mary Ressler; brothers Vincent Frey, Mike (Julie) Frey, Hank Frey and Peter (Tina) Frey and also by numerous nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents Peter and Pauline Frey, daughter Patricia Ward, brothers Chris and Rudy, sisters Emma and Lena and a grandson Christopher Souther.
Relatives and friends are invited for Prayers at the Southland Funeral Chapel (5006-48 Ave.) Taber on Tuesday, April 6, 2004 at 7:00 P.M.
The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Augustine's Catholic Church (5009-48 Ave.) Taber on Wednesday, April 7 at 2:00 P.M. with Reverend Father Mariusz Sztuk SDS celebrant. Interment to follow in the Taber Memorial Garden.
