Ben Kress
1931 - 2017
Benedict Kress, beloved husband of Margaret Kress (nee Hemsing), went home to his loving Father on Friday, July 21, 2017 at the age of 86 years.
Relatives and friends were invited to Prayers at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, 324 - 2 Avenue North, Vauxhall on Thursday, July 27, 2017 at 7:00 P.M.
The Funeral Mass was celebrated at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, 324 - 2 Avenue North, Vauxhall on Friday, July 28, 2017 at 11:00 A.M. Burial followed at the Hays Cemetery.
Ben is survived by Margaret, his wife of fifty five years and their children Roxanne (Michael) Fournier of Edmonton, Joe Kress (Kelley Robinson) of Edmonton, Robert Kress (Holly Riva) of Vauxhall, Paula (Kory) Brown of Calgary, Glenda Kress (Joe Dosramos) of Edmonton and Dale (Kara) Kress of Shaughnessy; twenty grandchildren and three great grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother David (Eva) Kress, brother-in-law Eugene Melhaff and sisters-in-law Henrietta, Shirley and Mary Kress as well as thirty eight in-laws on Margaret’s side and numerous nieces and nephews.
Ben was predeceased by his daughter-in-law Geraldine Kress; parents Paul and Barbara Kress; siblings Angeline (Andrew) Bolen, Jack Kress, John (Cleofae), Aggie (Paul) Proust, Leo Kress, Cecilia (Dan) Weisgerber, Dan (Alarine) Kress, Barney Kress, Leona Melhaff, Teddy (George) Wolosuk and Edward Kress. He was also predeceased by Margaret’s parents, Syl and Mary Hemsing, her brother Jim and brothers-in-law Glen White, Nels Block and Bill Kooyman.
Ben was born January 12, 1931 in Rosefield, Saskatchewan. He moved to Hays in 1952 to farm with his father and brothers. Ben took over the family farm where he continued to farm until retirement. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends.
