It is with heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Gerald Alvin Fraser, on Saturday, March 11, 2017, at home on the farm at Enchant at the age of 61 years.

Relatives and friends were invited to meet with the family at the Vauxhall Mennonite Brethren Church, 320 - 9 Street North, Vauxhall on Thursday, March 16, 2017 between 7:00 P.M. and 8:00 P.M.

The Funeral Service was held at the Vauxhall Mennonite Brethren Church, 320 - 9 Street North, Vauxhall on Friday, March 17, 2017 at 2:00 P.M. Burial followed at the Vauxhall Cemetery.

Gerald is survived by his wife Brenda Sander, mother Bertha Fraser of Taber, sister Darlene Hanke of Brooks and her children Julie (Scott) Briggs of Brooks (their children Eddie and Cooper), Joanne (Mike) Fahey of Brooks  (their daughter Ember); brother David (Marlene) Fraser of Taber; parents-in-law George and Vicky Sander of Lethbridge, sister-in-law Karen (Ron) Zielke of Lethbridge and their children Lindsey Ment (Donny Skretting Jr.) and her children Jayce, Kaden and Nash Ment; Kennedy Zielke (Lorne Dodbiba) and Gaelyn Zielke (Dallas Widdop).

He was predeceased by his father Garnal Fraser, brothers Calvin and Dean Fraser, brother-in-law Darrel Hanke and stepfather Glen Siebold.

Gerald was a caring, giving person, always ready to lend a hand. He did much volunteering, with Vauxhall Ball Association and also many years with Ducks Unlimited. Gerald loved to hunt, played much hockey and ball, and travelled at a young age to Thailand, Australia, New Zealand and China. He worked construction, then as a ditch rider for BRID in the Hays and then Enchant areas, finishing with them in the Travers headworks area. There he became known for the barbeques and bonfires. Next he farmed full time enjoying life working with the land and cattle. He was a compassionate man, happy to love and be loved. A good evening was playing darts with his friends or sitting around a campfire.

He loved deeply and shared that with his wife , relatives and friends. Gerald never refused to lend a helping hand, whether it be to help a neighbour chase cattle or brand, or whatever they asked.

A principled person, he gave his all to whatever he did. He takes a piece with him from many many hearts. He will deeply be missed.
