John Kutanzi

1929 - 2016

Johann Kutanzi, beloved husband of the late Kathy Kutanzi, was called home on Thursday, October 20, 2016 at the age of 87 years.

Relatives and friends were invited to Prayers at Southland Funeral Chapel, 5006 - 48 Avenue, Taber on Tuesday, October 25, 2016 at 7:00 P.M.

The Funeral Mass was celebrated at St. Augustine's Catholic Church, 5009 - 48 Avenue, Taber on Wednesday, October 26, 2016 at 11:00 A.M. Burial followed at the Taber Memorial Garden. 

John is survived by his children John (Bev) Kutanzi of Taber, Steve (Tona) Kutanzi of Lethbridge, Nick (Brenda) Kutanzi of Taber, Joe (Wendy) Kutanzi of Grassy Lake and Michael (Johanna) Kutanzi of Taber. He is also survived by his grandchildren Ryan (Delon) Kutanzi, Scott Kutanzi, Tandy (Kris) Jones, Jarrett (Alana) Kutanzi, Renae (Nickolaus) Beliveau, Jayden (Maegen) Kutanzi, Breanne (Kevin) King, Ethan Kutanzi, Shila (Scott) Sowell, Trisha (Shand) Watson, Heather Kutanzi (Matt), Kristy Kutanzi (Igor Koturbash), Cheryl Kutanzi (Chris), Curtis Kutanzi (Maddison), Matthew and Katelyn Kutanzi as well as twenty seven great grandchildren.

He was predeceased by his wife Katherina, parents Stephan and Elizabeth Kutanzi, in-laws Nicholas and Katherina Saler as well as numerous brothers and sisters-in-law.

John was born May 5, 1929 in Slatnik, Yugoslavia to Stephan and Elizabeth Kutanzi. On September 15, 1951 he married Katherina Saler. They immigrated to Canada in 1953, settling in Cranford where he farmed for twenty eight years. In 1981, they moved to Grassy Lake where  he farmed until retiring in 1990.
