JERRY FONG
1936 - 2006
Gerald Fong passed away at the Bethany Care Centre in Calgary following a lengthy illness on Monday, November 27, 2006 at the age of 70 years.
Jerry was born born January 11, 1936 in Toi Shan, China to George and Hope Fong. He and his mother remained in China until they were able to join his father in Canada in 1949 following the war and after the Canadian government repealed the Chinese Exclusion Act. Jerry attended school in Taber and Calgary. He worked in Calgary in accounting in the oil and gas industry and pursued his passion for poker.
Jerry is survived by brother Joey (Lynn) Fong of Calgary; two sisters, Margaret Fong of Calgary and Patricia (Dan) Fong Johns of Edmonton. He was the proud uncle of Rachel, Kiran and Joel.
The family wishes to thank the nurses, caregivers, and doctors who provided compassionate care to Jerry.
A private family graveside service will be held at the Taber Memorial Garden.
