DORIS FREELAND
1908 - 2006
Doris Freeland, beloved wife of the late Frank Albert Freeland, passed away on Friday, December 15, 2006 at the age of 98 years.
She is survived by her daughter Hazel Jensen of Taber; son Raymond Freeland of Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan, nine grandchildren, sixteen great grandchildren and five great great grandchildren as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband Frank; parents Archibald and Sarah Bowes; a great grandson, two brothers and one sister.
Doris was born April 26, 1908. She grew up on the family farm near Taber. At the age of sixteen Doris moved to Calgary where she was employed as a stenographer with Canadian Pacific Railway for twenty five years. She married Frank Freeland in Calgary in 1943. Together they had two beautiful children. Doris and her family later moved back to Taber when they purchased Taber Plumbing and she has resided here until her passing. Doris enjoyed cooking, bingo, gardening, traveling, and dancing. She also enjoyed bowling, golfing, going to the horse races and fishing with her good friends Doris and Frank Semaka. Doris was an active member of Knox United Church as well as the Bridge Club for many years. She loved cats and was always rescuing and feeding the stray cats in her neighborhood. Doris will be remembered for being very independent and as a loving and caring person with a great sense of humour.
Relatives and friends are invited to meet with the family at the Southland Funeral Chapel, 5006 - 48 Avenue, Taber on Monday, December 18, 2006 from 5:30 to 6:30 P.M.
The Funeral Service will be held at the Southland Funeral Chapel, 5006 - 48 Avenue, Taber on Tuesday, December 19, 2006 at 2:00 P.M. with Susan Bowyer officiating. Interment to follow at the Taber Memorial Garden. If friend so desire, memorial tributes in Doris’ name may be made directly to the Lethbridge and District Humane Society, P.O.
