Lloyd Flaws

1946 - 2016

Lloyd Charles Flaws, beloved husband of Lucy Flaws, passed away in Lethbridge on Wednesday, May 4, 2016 at the age of 69 years following a courageous five year battle with cancer.  Lloyd would have celebrated his seventieth birthday on May 8.

Relatives and friends were invited to meet with the family at Southland Funeral Chapel, 5006 - 48 Avenue, Taber on Saturday, May 7, 2016 between 4:00 P.M. and 5:00 P.M.

Besides Lucy, his loving wife of forty five years, Lloyd is survived by three children Jody (Jeanie) Flaws of Scarsdale, New York, Jerry (Carley) Flaws of Strathmore and Jeff Flaws of Calgary as well as his five treasured grandchildren Meghan, Liam, Paige, Lucas and Maxwell. Lloyd is also survived by ten siblings Bert (Janice) Flaws of Hays, Isabel Pakarno of Brooks, George (Sandy) Flaws of Hays, Anne (Lyle) Mooney of Coaldale, Darlene (Bill) McQuarrie of Yorkton, Saskatchewan, Agnes Flaws of Lethbridge, Heather (Howard) Campbell of Burdett, Doug (Bonnie) Flaws of Coaldale, John Flaws of Hays and Marilyn Flaws of Lethbridge as well as countless nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his parents Cecil and Isa Flaws as well as his brother-in-law Jerry Pakarno.

Lloyd was born in Gladstone, Manitoba in 1946.  He moved to Hays in 1957 when his family traded their land in Manitoba for irrigated farmland near Hays. Lloyd started working in the oil patch in 1966 and continued to work there for twenty seven years until purchasing farmland near his family farm in 1993. He loved farming and continued to care for and work the farm until moving to Coaldale in 2014. During his days on the farm, Lloyd could always be found tinkering on something or other in his quonset. Lloyd was very close to his family and would usually be accompanied by one brother or another. Lloyd was a quiet, humble and unassuming man of few words, but made a great impact on his family and friends. He was loyal, loving and kind until the end. He will be greatly missed.

If friends and family so desire, memorial tributes in Lloyd’s name may be made directly to St. Michael’s Health Centre (Palliative Care Unit) 1400 - 9 Avenue South, Lethbridge, Alberta, T1J 4V5.
