Pete Shaw
1930 - 2015
Alan Barratt Shaw, beloved husband of Janice Shaw (nee West), passed away in Lethbridge on Friday, December 18, 2015 due to complications following surgery at the age of 85 years.
Relatives and friends were invited to meet with the family at the church prior to the funeral service on Tuesday, December 22, 2015 between 1:00 P.M. and 1:40 P.M.
The Funeral Service was held at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Taber Stake Centre, 4709 - 50 Avenue, Taber on Tuesday, December 22, 2015 at 2:00 P.M. Burial followed at the Taber Memorial Garden.
Besides his loving wife Janice, Pete is survived by his children Robert (Tamara) Shaw of Ogden, Utah, Randy (Audrey) Shaw of Magrath, Derek (Julie) Shaw of Medicine Hat, Karen (Lynn) Whitelock of Calgary, Darlene Shaw of Taber and Renae (Ernie) Vornbrock of Taber. He also leaves to mourn nineteen grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren; sisters Betsy Shaw and Lavonne (Murray) Pack; sisters-in-law Lucille Shaw and Carol Shaw; Janice’s siblings Russell (Hazel) West, Donna (Lloyd) Erickson and Allen (Jackie) West as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents Frank and Alice Shaw, brothers Winston and Ken Shaw, sister Lorrayne Baile, brother-in-law Jack Baile.
Pete was born in Raymond on October 9, 1930 to Frank and Alice Shaw. He received his schooling in Raymond with basketball being one of his main interests. After finishing high school, he served a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in New Zealand. He was there for two and a half years, learning to love the country and the people there. On his return to Raymond he found Janice, who was a young girl when left and was now a young lady. They dated and were married for sixty two years. Their first year of marriage was spent in Raymond, where their first son Robert was born. When Robert was a young baby they moved to Taber, where Pete worked for the M.D. of Taber until retiring in 1995.
