Norma Dalton

1935 - 2015

We sadly announce the passing of our mother, Norma Gloria Dalton (nee Cemulini) in Vauxhall on Sunday, December 13, 2015 at the age of 80 years. 

 Relatives and friends were invited to meet with the family at Southland Funeral Chapel, 5006 - 48 Avenue, Taber on Thursday, December 17, 2015 between 7:00 P.M. and 8:00 P.M.

 The Funeral Mass was celebrated at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, 324 - 2 Avenue North, Vauxhall on Friday, December 18, 2015 at 2:00 P.M. Burial followed at the Vauxhall Cemetery.  

 Norma is survived by her five children Albert Dalton and Ella Dalton both of Vauxhall, George (Roxanne) Dalton of Lethbridge and their sons Braden and Kyle; Pearl Rice of Carstairs and her sons Kasey and Calvin; Eldon Dalton of Lethbridge. She is also survived by her brothers Frank and Victor Cemulini; sisters Rachele James and Jean Cemulini all of Taber; brother-in-law Basil Dalton of Innisfail, sister-in-law Elsie Dalton of Calgary as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

 She was predeceased by her loving husband Allan, parents Gio Batta and Anna Cemulini, sister Angeline Cemulini, brothers Louie, Eugene and Delco Cemulini, brother-in-law Jack James, sister-in-law Joyce Cemulini as well as numerous relatives from the Dalton family.

 Norma was born October 4, 1935 and raised on the family farm near Taber. On April 29, 1960, Norma married Allan Douglas Dalton. They lived near Vauxhall and farmed on the Dalton homestead where they raised their five children. While Norma was busy raising her growing family, she was also an active working partner on the farm where they raised Hereford cattle. She worked alongside Allan, doing whatever was necessary to make life better for her family. Norma worked extremely hard her whole life, without complaint.

 Norma had a wide variety of interests and loved her huge vegetable garden. The family never went hungry as she canned and processed all the fruits of her labor. Norma also grew beautiful flowers and was very proud of her roses, peonies, lilies, tulips and gladiola plants. She loved playing cards and was a known family card shark when Hearts were played at family gatherings. She was so amazing, that everyone waited to see where she sat and then fought over places at the table to be the furthest one from her. Norma was also a very graceful dancer. The Daltons were well known by many people from the Old Time Dance Association that they attended regularly for many years. They taught many people the love of a waltz, two step and the allemande left of a square dance.

 After Allan’s passing in 1984, Norma continued to manage the farm along with her two children, Albert and Ella. Norma lived on the family farm until her passing. She will be dearly missed by her family and their many memories of her will be treasured always.
