Bill was born to Lorne and Eleanor Fletcher in his grandparents home on September 17, 1932 in Medicine Hat. He grew up on the family farm and went to school at Hudson and Taber. On November 1, 1956 he married Betty Burwell and they moved to the Newhouse Place where they farmed and raised their three children Greg, Gord and Cheryl. Besides his love of farming he enjoyed pistol club, curling and music which was probably his favorite. He played the piano, organ, accordion and saxophone and enjoyed getting together with friends for jam sessions. He was on the Taber Service Board for fifteen years, a member of the Kiwanis Club as well as being involved with Sherburne Hall and Knox United Church. In 1980 Bill and Betty moved to Taber but he still remained active on the farm for several years. In their later years, they enjoyed having coffee with many of their old and new friends. His last years were spent at Clearview Lodge. Just days before his passing he celebrated his eighty third birthday surrounded by his family. Bill will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by all his family and friends.
