Wilma Smith

1933 - 2015

Wilma Lamoine Smith (nee Orr), beloved wife of Bryce Smith, passed away in Bow Island on Monday, June 8, 2015 at the age of 82 years.

Relatives and friends were invited to meet with the family at at the church prior to the funeral service on Saturday, June 13, 2015 between 9:30 A.M. and 10:40 A.M.

The Funeral Service was held at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 309 - 8 Street West, Bow Island on Saturday, June 13, 2015 at 11:00 A.M. Burial followed at the Bow Island Cemetery.

Wilma is survived by her husband Bryce, daugthers Andrea (Rob) Burgess of Bow Island, Cheryl Smith of Bow Island, Carolyn Smith (Leon Markson) of Derwent and Pam (Barry) Gladders of Vernon, British Columbia; seventeen grandchildren and thirty five great grandchildren. She is also survived by three sisters Verda Perkinson of Lethbridge, Nola (Byron) Shurtz of Raymond and Myrna Poirier of Lethbridge; brother Dale (Peggy) Orr of Poway, California and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her grandson Ricky Burgess and brothers-in-law Bill Perkinson, Gill Poirier and Jim Martin.

Wilma was born July 2, 1933 in Orton, Alberta to Amos and Lavon (nee Sillito) Orr. She graduated from secretarial school in Lethbridge. On June 10, 1953 she married Bryce Smith, a chartered accountant, and together they had four daughters. Wilma’s love of music was well known to many and she shared it with her family and her church. Known simply as Gram to her many grandchildren, they were a major source of joy in her life and she passed her love of gardening and knitting on to them.
