Bernard Joseph Kress, passed away in Taber on Wednesday, December 17, 2014 at the age of 85 years.
Relatives and friends were invited to Prayers at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, 324 - 2 Avenue North, Vauxhall on Sunday, December 21, 2014 at 4:00 P.M.
The Funeral Mass was celebrated at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, 324 - 2 Avenue North, Vauxhall on Monday, December 22, 2014 at 11:00 A.M. with Reverend Vincent TuanHa, Celebrant. A private burial followed at the Vauxhall Cemetery.
Barney will be sadly missed and thought of often by Mary Kress; his children Mike (Cathy) Kress of Vauxhall, Terry (Lori) Kress of Vauxhall, Randy (Leslee) Kress of Winfield, John Kress of Hays, Jackie Kress (Gary Redekop) of Vauxhall, Kelly (Dave) Kambeitz of Vauxhall and Darwin (Jackie) Kress of Vauxhall; grandchildren Chad (Cary Anne) Fletcher, Jodie (Lyle) Poitras, Derek (Sara) Dawson, Nikki (Jaden) Odland, Tanielle, Stephanie, Bailee and Owen Kress, Tyler, Dakota, Brittney and Brennan Kambeitz; great grandchildren Taylor, Bailey, Dawson and Bella Fletcher, Taylor and Braden Chapple. He is also survived by also survived by four brothers Leo (Henritte) Kress, Dan Kress, Ben (Margaret) Kress and David (Eva) Kress; in-laws Shirley Kress, Eugene Mehlhaff and by numerous nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by parents Paul and Barbara Kress; five sisters Angeline (Andrew) Bolen, Aggie (Paul) Proust, Cecilia (Dan) Weisgerber, Leona Mehlhaff and Teddy (George) Wolosuk; three brothers Jack Kress, Edward Kress and John (Cleofae) Kress; sister-in-law Alarine Kress.
Barney was born and raised in Masefield, Saskatchewan where he met and married Mary Peterson. In the spring of 1953 they moved to Hays where they began farming and started their family. He farmed from spring to fall and worked in the oil patch in the winters. Barney enjoyed watching and travelling with his children and grandchildren to sporting events wherever they were playing. Barney also enjoyed fishing and over the last fifteen years went to the coast on a salmon fishing trip. He was a wonderful father, grandfather and great grandfather who will be missed dearly.
