MARY ENGWER
1935 - 2005
Mrs. Mary Engwer of Taber, beloved wife of the late Mr. Ed Engwer, passed away in Taber on Thursday, January 6, 2005 at the age of 87 years.
Mary was born on September 5, 1917 in Alsask, Saskatchewan. She married Ed on August 26, 1935 in Saskatoon. They moved to Taber in 1948 to open a 5 cent to $1 store, later known as Steadmans, retiring in 1976. Mary and Ed taught dancing in Taber and surrounding area for many years.
Mary will be sadly missed by her two daughters Marilyn (Roy) Elmer of Vulcan and Reta Emes of Taber; two sons Ed Engwer of Sundre and Norman (Connie) Engwer of Taber; seven grandchildren Warren (Tina) Elmer of Pitt Meadows, B.C., Ken (Kelli) Elmer of Ladner, B.C., Shannon (Margie) Emes of Lethbridge, Terry (Lynelle) Emes of Vauxhall, Brian Emes of Lethbridge, Nick Engwer of Taber and Jennifer Engwer of Taber and twelve great grandchildren, including two sets of twins.
Mary was predeceased by her husband Ed in 1996, her parents, a brother, a sister and a great granddaughter.
Relatives and friends are invited to meet with the family at the Southland Funeral Chapel, 5006-48 Ave., Taber on Monday, January 10, 2005 from 7:00 to 8:00 P.M.
The Funeral Service will be held at Knox United Church, 4929 - 50 Ave., Taber on Tuesday, January 11 at 2:00 P.M. with Reverend Jim Lochhead officiating. Interment to follow in the Taber Memorial Garden.
