JOHN STOLK
1930 - 2014
John Stolk, beloved husband of Argyl “Archie” Stolk, passed away in Claresholm on Thursday, September 25, 2014 at the age of 84 years.
Relatives and friends were invited to meet with the family at Southland Funeral Chapel, 5006 - 48 Avenue, Taber on Tuesday, September 30, 2014 between 7:00 P.M. and 8:00 P.M.
The Funeral Service was held at Knox United Church, 4929 - 50 Avenue, Taber on Wednesday, October 1, 2014 at 2:00 P.M. with Reverend Mokwadi Paymann T'dere Basele officiating. Burial followed at the Taber Memorial Garden.
John will be dearly missed by Archie, his wife of fifty five years and their three children Shelley Fakir (Ron Townrow) of Didsbury, Terry (Palma) Stolk of Edmonton, Frank Stolk of Edmonton and by seven grandchildren and six great grandchildren. He is also survived by his brothers Bill (Darlien) Stolk and Jake (Laura) Stolk; sisters Cori (Ron) Abell, Greta (Abe) Guenther and Gloria (Jim) Arnott; sisters-in-law Leona (Harold) Pratt, Ferne (Phil) Cymbaluk, Jenny Stolk and Pat Severns; brother-in-law Lyle (Anne) Severns and by numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
He was predeceased by his parents Frank and Cora Stolk; brother Harry Stolk; mother-in-law Molly Betnar and father-in-law Guy Severns; sisters-in-law Joyce (Delco) Cemulini, Ruby Hicks and brother-in-law Ross Severns.
John was born in Maasdyke, Holland, the oldest of seven children. He grew up in Holland and immigrated to Canada in 1948 with his family, eventually settling in the Taber area. After John and Archie were married, they lived the majority of their years in the Taber/Vauxhall area before moving to Carmangay and most recently Claresholm.
