1935 - 2014

Gloria Leotta Schwehr (nee Cearns, formerly Egeland), passed away in Taber on Monday, August 25, 2014 at the age of 78 years.
Relatives and friends were invited to Prayers at Southland Funeral Chapel, 5006 - 48 Avenue, Taber on Friday, August 29, 2014 at 7:00 P.M.
The Funeral Mass was celebrated at St. Augustine's Catholic Church, 5009 - 48 Avenue, Taber, on Saturday, August 30, 2014 at 10:30 A.M. with Reverend Vincent TuanHa Celebrant. Burial followed at the Taber Memorial Garden.
She is survived by her children Louise (Ron) Souther of Taber, Boyd (Sheila) Egeland of Olds, Steven (Gale) Egeland of Taber, Mike (Renea) Egeland of Lethbridge, Patricia Auer of Taber, Byron Egeland of Taber; eighteen grandchildren, twenty one great grandchildren (two due early 2015). She is also survived by her brother-in-law Mike Laboulane of Turtleford, Saskatchewan and his children Delenna, Brian, Bonnie, Glen and their families. She will also be remembered by Carl’s family, Andrew’s family, her best friend Barb Green’s family and by numerous nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her first husband Carl Egeland, her second husband Andrew Schwehr and her best friend Barb Green.
Gloria was born in Loon Lake, Saskatchewan on October 9, 1935, the youngest of nine children (four boys and five girls) born to Minnie (nee Bateman) and William Cearns. She married Carl Egeland June 27, 1953 in Cranbrook, British Columbia and they resided in Wardner, British Columbia before moving to Enchant where they farmed and started their family of six children. In 1967 they moved to Vauxhall and in 1973 to Taber. Carl passed away in 1975. On May 23, 1987, she married Andrew Schwehr.
