Betty was born February 13, 1937 to Claude and Delia Vancleave and was raised in the Fincastle area. At the age of eighteen, she found love while attending the Calgary Stampede and started her new adventure in California where she resided with her new husband, rodeo bareback champion John Hawkins. She was blessed with the birth of her daughter Kelly after several years of marriage.
Betty relocated to Clements, California and married Don Steely, her dear husband of thirty five years. With her new marriage came two new additions to her family, Don’s children Mark and Joann.
After mourning Don’s passing, Betty was blessed to find love again with a wonderful companion, Don Morelli, whom she enjoyed her golden years with.
Betty was a beautiful woman and touched everyone with grace and a zest for life. She left us with a legacy of kindness and beauty. She was a free spirit with a touch of mischievous, known for her Halloween parties and practical jokes. She will be dearly missed.
Flowers are welcome but if friends so desire, memorial tributes in Betty’s name may be made directly to STARS, 1441 Aviation Park NE, PO Box 570, Calgary, Alberta T2E 8M7 (www.stars.ca).
