JOE SHIELD

1934 - 2013

Joseph Shield, beloved husband of Helen Shield, passed away in Taber after a lengthy illness on Saturday, July 13, 2013 at the age of 78 years.
A private burial service was held at the Taber Memorial Garden.
Besides Helen, his loving wife of fifty nine years, Joe is survived by their children Rick (Laurie) Shield of Taber, Randy (Doris) Shield of Lethbridge and Cam (Janet) Shield of Lethbridge; six grandchildren Tyrell, Desiree, Ashley, Kaden, Jayla, Dina and by three great grandchildren Tori, Maci and Vincent. He is also survived by his sister Irene Hudson of Lethbridge and by numerous nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents Bill and Wilma Shield; two brothers Darrel Shield, Bill Shield and a sister at birth; sister-in-law Colynne Shield; granddaughter Terra Shield; Helen’s parents Peter and Margaret Braun and numerous brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.
Joe worked in the oilfield for thirty two years. Following retirement, he enjoyed woodworking, gardening, spending time with his dogs and was a social member of the Royal Canadian Legion. Joe loved his family and will be sadly missed but fondly remembered.
