Ursula was born October 31, 1944 in Beendorf, Germany. She attended school in East Germany until the age of sixteen when she and her mother escaped to Hamburg West Germany to join her sister Inge, just two weeks before the Berlin wall was erected. While in West Germany, Ursula completed public school and entered a nursing program. In February 1963, she met Hans. They married in 1965 and the first of their two children, Matthias, was born in 1966. Two years later, Swen completed the family.
In June 1970, Ursula, Hans and the boys sailed to Canada, settling in the Toronto area. In 1975, they made the move to Lethbridge where Ursula was employed in the retail industry prior to starting a successful flower shop, Country Bouquet, in partnership with her friend Marja Van Rijn.
Ursula was a loving and caring person who walked through life with grace and dignity. She was first a wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. Her creative ability was evident in all aspects of her life. Hospitality was a special gift of Ursula’s, appreciated by her friends and family.
Ursula enjoyed life, traveling to Germany and other favorite destinations with Hans, spending time with her family and enjoying her grandchildren. A highlight for Ursula was a trip to Germany with Michaela and Matteo in July 2011.
