BOB PENNER

1943 - 2012

It is with great sadness that the family of Robert Dennis Penner announce his passing on Sunday, December 9, 2012 at the age of 69 years.
A private family graveside service was held at the Taber Memorial Garden prior to the funeral service on Thursday, December 13, 2012.
The Funeral Service was held at the Evangelical Free Church, 5431 - 48 Avenue, Taber on Thursday, December 13, 2012 at 2:00 P.M. with Pastor Harry Unger officiating.
Besides his loving wife Judy, Bob will be lovingly remembered by their two children Tara (Len) Andrus of Whitecourt, Todd Penner of Taber and granddaughters Randi and Shayna Andrus. He is also survived by three sisters Elviera (Don) Enns of Carrot River, Saskatchewan, Ella (Art) Neufeld of Saskatoon, Saskatchewan and Betty (Lyle) Brown of Carstairs; two brothers Eldon (Olinda) Penner of Abbotsford, British Columbia and Harry Penner of Didsbury; Judy’s sister Wendy (Mike) Delaney of Kelowna, British Columbia and by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Bob was predeceased by his parents Henry and Helen Penner, Judy’s parents Len and Joyce Berscht and a sister-in-law Betty Lou Penner.
Bob was born in Didsbury on February 3, 1943. On April 1, 1967 he married Judy Berscht and they were blessed with two children. He began his career in clothing retail sales in 1962. Bob moved his family to Taber in September of 1975 where he established Penner’s Mens Wear. His hard work and commitment continued until his retirement in 1997. Bob was actively involved in the community and sat on numerous boards and committees. He was dedicated to and instrumental in the development and incorporation of Taber Special Needs in 1987. His passion and vision for Taber Special Needs carried on for the next twenty five years. Bob’s devotion to his family and genuine love for people was the foundation of every aspect of his life.
