ELEANOR FLETCHER
1907 - 2000
Eleanor Margaret Fletcher of Taber, beloved wife of the late Lorne Fletcher, passed away in Lethbridge on Sunday, September 3, 2000 at the age of 92 years.
Eleanor was born at Medicine Hat on September 15, 1907. She received her schooling there and then attended Normal School in Calgary. She taught school in one room schools North East of Medicine Hat and later at Skiff. While in Skiff she met Lorne Fletcher. After their marriage they lived on the farm until their retirement to Taber in 1960. She was active in Community and church groups as well as the Eastern Star. She was the first woman School Trustee for the Taber School Division in the late 1940’s.
Eleanor is survived by and will be missed by her son Bill (Betty) Fletcher of Taber and their children Greg (Sherry), Gordon (Paulette) and Cheryl (Tim); daughter-in-law Charlotte Fletcher of Taber and her children Tim (Patti), Debbie (Orest) and Darlene (Jesse); twelve great grandchildren and by brothers Gordon (Mae) Hood and Bill Hood.
She was predeceased by her husband Lorne Fletcher, son Bob Fletcher and parents George and Bertha Hood and sister Mildred.
The Funeral Service was held at Knox United Church, 4929 - 50 Avenue, Taber on Thursday, September 7, 2000 at 2:00 P.M. with Reverend Yvonne Mills officiating. Burial followed at the Taber Memorial Garden.
