JOE SEKURA
1932 - 2000
Joseph Sekura, beloved husband of Mary Sekura of Taber, passed away suddenly at his home on Thursday, August 24, 2000 at the age of 68 years.
Joseph was born at Sokolovac, Yugoslavia on January 5, 1932. Joe immigrated to Canada with his father and mother in March of 1938. He received his schooling at Fincastle, then farmed east of Taber until his passing.
Joe leaves to cherish his memory, his wife of forty seven years, Mary; sons Anthony (Joe) and Matthew of Taber; daughters, Lydia of Lethbridge and Bonnie of Calgary and two grandchildren, Darrel and Denise Nikoleychuk of Calgary. He is also survived by four sisters, Liz (Karl) Bandelow of Calgary, Theresa (Don) Maxwell of Calgary, Mary (Blair) Wagner of Taber and Ginny (Bud) Lewis of Red Deer; and a brother, Frank (Ann) Sekura of Taber. Joe was predeaceased by his father, Frank in 1971 and his mother, Elizabeth in 1999.
Relatives and friends were invited for Prayers at the Southland Funeral Chapel, 5006 - 48 Avenue, Taber on Sunday, August 27, 2000 at 7:00 P.M.
The Funeral Mass was celebrated at St. Augustine’s Catholic Church, 5009 - 48 Avenue, Taber on Monday, August 28, 2000 at 10:30 A.M. with Reverend Father Jim de los Angeles Celebrant. Burial followed at the Taber Memorial Garden.
