MARGARET JONES

1914 - 2000

It is with great sorrow that we announce the death of our dearly loved Margaret on July 20, 2000, age 86 years.
Margaret is survived by one son, Randy and his wife Janice and by grandchildren whom she adored - Jenny, Melanie, Matthew and Heather; one step-brother, Roy Kinsey (Frances) of Lethbridge; sisters-in-law Barbara Kinniburgh (Ring) of Taber, Jean Bell (Harold) of Edmonton, and Florence Jespersen (Charles) of Turner Valley, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Margaret was born on May 26, 1914 in Malden, Washington. She moved to the Taber area with her parents, Elias and Myrtle Jespersen as a young child. She lived and worked in Taber and played the organ at St. Theodore’s Anglican Church for many years.
She was predeceased by her parents Elias and Myrtle Jespersen, sisters Alyce and Lucille and brother Charles.
In 1940 Margaret married Malcolm Bell of Taber. Together they had four children; Muriel Elizabeth and Rhonda Margaret who both died in infancy, Douglas Arnold who died at age twenty and Randy. Malcolm died in 1970.
In December of 1973 Margaret married Harold Jones of Grassy Lake, whom she met while square dancing. They spent many happy years in Grassy Lake and enjoyed square dancing, travelling and spending time with family and friends. Their four grandchildren brought them much joy and they were able to visit Randy and his family in Edmonton on numerous occasions over the years. Margaret loved to knit and examples of her handiwork are treasured by many people. She also loved to play the organ and was able to continue this love of making music up until her death. In 1993 Margaret and Harold moved to Grandview Village in Lethbridge where they enjoyed five years in their condo. They were the recipients of much kindness from the residents in Grandview, particularly during their last year when their needs increased. In May of 1999 after more then twenty five years of marriage, Harold died and some of the light went out of Margaret’s eyes. The help and support of so many, especially during the time after Harold’s death, will be forever remembered with gratitude by Margaret’s family.
Following Harold’s death Margaret was blessed to have her granddaughter, Jenny, live with her for three months after which she decided to move to Edmonton to be closer to Randy and his family. In September of 1999 she moved into Bramel Homes in the city’s west end. She spent much time with her family over the next 11 months and her presence was a gift to all. The caring and compassionate staff at Bramel Homes helped make Margaret’s last year a pleasant one. A special thanks to those who visited Margaret in Edmonton on a regular basis as well as to the family and friends whose phone calls, cards and letters were so appreciated by Margaret.
Margaret was a kind and gentle soul and never had a bad word to say about anyone. She was an individual who put the words “unconditional love” into action every day of her life. She will be sadly missed but her memory will be forever cherished by all who were touched by her gentle and loving spirit.
A celebration of Margaret’s life was held at St. Theodore’s Anglican Church, 5120 - 44 Avenue, Taber on Tuesday, July 25, 2000 at 2:00 P.M. with Reverend Dale Lang officiating.
