EDDIE IVINS

1908 - 2001

Edward James Ivins, beloved husband of Peggy Ivins, passed away in Taber, with family members at his side, on Sunday, December 23, 2001 at the age of 93 years.
He is survived by Peggy, his wife of sixty two years; daughter Patty (Darwin) Lund; son Tom (Dianna) Ivins; grandchildren Corby Lund (Fiance’ Debbie Dilworth), Kevin (Christy) Lund, Kristen (Tom) Simek and Tanya (Cole) Nelson and great granddaughters Haley, Sadie, Brynn and Tomi Jane. Eddie was predeceased by his parents Edward and Margaret, brother Charlie, half brother Jack Moir and half sister Pearl Watson.
Eddie was born July 27, 1908 in Victoria, British Columbia. He spent most of his ninety three years on his beloved ranch beneath Chief Mountain at Beazer, except for a ten year stint as the cattle manager on the Peigan Reserve (The CY Ranch).
Eddie took great pride in the accomplishments of his children and grandchildren, and in his stewardship of the land. He was an accomplished horseman and stockman with a gentle way with his livestock. Eddie was a founding and lifetime member of the Cowboys Protective Association (Membership #305), now the Canadian Professional Cowboy’s Association. He was also an accomplished calf roper at many southern Alberta rodeos and the Calgary Stampede.
Eddie leaves us to meet up with his many good friends and family that have gone on before.
He will be remembered as a fine husband, great dad and grandpa, good friend and neighbor and as a cowboy.
The Funeral Service was held at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Leavitt Chapel, on Friday, December 28, 2001 at 11:00 A.M.
If friends so desire, memorial tributes in Eddie’s name may be made to the Continuing Care Unit, c/o of the Taber Hospital, 4326 - 50 Avenue, Taber, Alberta T1G 1N9.
