1924 - 2012

Ames Harry Frieburg, beloved husband of Lillian Frieburg of Taber, passed away at the Chinook Regional Hospital on Sunday, August 12, 2012 at the age of 87 years.
Relatives and friends are invited to meet with the family at the Southland Funeral Chapel, 5006 - 48 Avenue, Taber on Wednesday, August 15, 2012 between 3:00 P.M. and 4:00 P.M.
Besides Lillian, his loving wife of fifty six years, he is survived by his children Craig (Dawn) Frieburg of Coaldale and their children Curtis, Chelsea and Geoff; Connie (Peter) Van Uden of Vauxhall and their children Josh (Shawna) and Amanda (David) Kimoto; Carol (Ron) Egeland of Taber and their children Chantal and Kaylee as well as seven great grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother Don (Julie) Frieburg of Glenwood City, Wisconsin; sister Susan (Jim) Engum of Colfax, Wisconsin; sisters-in-law Theresa Stober of Hays and Penny Holst of Medicine Hat; brother-in-law Henry (Pauly) Holst of Lethbridge.
Ames was born September 19, 1924 in Sherwood, North Dakota to Oscar Frieburg and Amanda Anderson. He was enlisted in the United States Army from 1946 to 1948. After he was discharged he came to Canada and farmed in Rosefield, Saskatchewan until 1953 when he started farming in Hays. Ames married Lillian Holst in Vauxhall on October 26, 1955. In 1958 he began driving school bus, which he did with pride for thirty five years. Ames and Lillian bought A & L Hardware in Hays in 1964. In 1999 they moved to Signature Point in Taber where Ames has resided until the time of his passing.
Ames enjoyed curling, baseball and wood working as well as many crib games with his good friend Claude. He was a devoted caregiver and was seen regularly on his scooter going to visit Lillian at the Extendicare.
He will be missed by many. Thanks for all the memories, values and hard working ethics. We’ll love you forever. Until we meet again.
