Henry was born December 23, 1946 in Taber to Jacob and Katharina “Tena” Schulz. He attended school in Vauxhall and completed three years at the University of Calgary before returning home to farm with his father. He met his wife Karen Sederberg in 1970 and they were married on July 28, 1973. After his father retired, Henry farmed in partnership with his younger brother and brother-in-law. Over the years they milked cows, raised pigs and cattle and farmed a variety of crops. At the time of his passing, he had farmed with his brother-in-law Henry Wiebe for over thirty years.
Henry was a wise man with a gentle and practical nature. Always community minded, he served in many ways including for the Vauxhall Public Library, the Canadian Foodgrains Bank, the Softwheat Growers Association, the Mennonite Central Committee and the Vauxhall Co-op. A faithful church member, he was a part of the Vauxhall Mennonite Conference Church until its close in 2000 and then he attended the Vauxhall Mennonite Brethren Church. Henry loved his family, his grandchildren and farming.
