LENA DUNN

1920 - 2012

Lena Evelyn Dunn, beloved wife of the late Dale Dunn, passed away in Lethbridge surrounded by her family on Wednesday, May 2, 2012 at the age of 91 years.
Relatives and friends are invited to meet with the family at the Southland Funeral Chapel, 5006 - 48 Avenue, Taber on Sunday, May 6, 2012 between 7:00 P.M. and 8:00 P.M.
The Funeral Service will be held at the Vauxhall Mennonite Brethren Church, 320 - 9 Street North, Vauxhall on Monday, May 7, 2012 at 2:00 P.M. with Mr. Ray Speaker officiating. Burial to follow at the Vauxhall Cemetery.
Lena is survived by her children Sharon (Joe) Such of Carmangay, Sheila (Gail) Alcock of Rainier, Nadine (Roger) Skretting of Vauxhall, Danny Dunn of Vauxhall and Boyd (Sharon) Dunn of Vauxhall; eight grandchildren, nine great grandchildren and one great great grandchild. She is also survived by her siblings Mildred Findlay of Lethbridge, Jennie Brown of Lethbridge, Joyce (Jack) Shendruk of Coaldale, Dolly (Maurice) Crabb of Coaldale, Bud (Marilyn) Monson of Coaldale and Norma (Bob) MacDonell of Cornwall, Ontario; in-laws Ruth Matthews, Leonard (Vicki) Dunn, Ken (Peggy) Dunn, Vern (Yvonne) Dunn and Joye Johnson as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband Dale; parents Alma and Oscar Monson; infant granddaughter Frances Clare Dunn and grandson Earl Alcock.
Lena was born on December 22, 1920 at Turin where she grew up. She married Dale Dunn on June 3, 1942. About 1953 they moved to their farm south of Retlaw were they farmed and raised their family. In 1975 they retired to Vauxhall where they were both active in the community, especially the Royal Canadian Legion. Lena was a proud member of the Ladies Auxiliary, where she held many positions including more than one term as president. After Dale’s passing in 2004, Lena remained in her home in Vauxhall. In 2009 she moved to the Sunny South Lodge in Coaldale where she has resided until her passing.
