1910 - 2012

Wanda Golda passed away in Taber on Monday, April 2, 2012 at the age of 101 years.
Relatives and friends are invited to Prayers at the Southland Funeral Chapel, 5006 - 48 Avenue, Taber on Wednesday, April 4, 2012 at 7:00 P.M.
The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Augustine’s Catholic Church, 5009 - 48 Avenue, Taber on Thursday, April 5, 2012 at 10:00 A.M. with Reverend Vincent TuanHa Celebrant. Burial to follow at the Taber Memorial Garden.
Wanda is survived by her children Ursula (Ludwig) Zogler of Edmonton, Regina (Rudy) Kiss of Taber, Christine Golda of Peace River and Liz Borau of Lethbridge; grandchildren Sharon, Joanne, Kelly, Leanne, Larry, Andy, Merle, Pamela, Charlene, Tom, Cheri and their families; fourteen great grandchildren; special niece Jadwiga Gruca as well as numerous relatives in Poland.
She was predeceased by her husband Frank; son-in-law Al Borau, four sisters and two brothers.
Wanda was born in Bor Zapilski, Poland on November 30, 1910. She married Frank Golda on December 6, 1931 in Germany and together they had four children. They immigrated to Canada arriving on May 22, 1953 and settled in Nobleford. In 1954 they moved to Taber where she has resided until her passing. Frank passed away in July of 1976 at the age of sixty nine years. Wanda was active in the C.W.L. and received her forty year pin. She was also active in her church and recently received her golden year pin. Wanda washed and ironed for Father Lyons. She quilted for Parkside Manor for many years and received many first and second prizes. In 1990 she received a recognition and appreciation award from the Taber and District Thrift Shop. Wanda also received a Certificate of Recognition for extraordinary volunteer services in 1997 and the Senior Citizen of the year award in 1987.
