BETTY SLAVIK
1938 - 2012
Elizabeth Slavik, beloved wife of Frank Slavik, passed away in Lethbridge on Friday, March 2, 2012 at the age of 74 years.
Relatives and friends are invited to meet with the family at the Southland Funeral Chapel, 5006 - 48 Avenue, Taber on Tuesday, March 6, 2012 from 7:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M.
The Funeral Service will be held at Knox United Church, 4929 - 50 Avenue, Taber on Wednesday, March 7, 2012 at 2:00 P.M. with Pastor Sheila McLeod officiating. A private family burial will follow at the Taber Memorial Garden.
Besides her loving husband Frank, she is survived by her children Debbie Slavik of Lethbridge, Janet Slavik of Lethbridge, Sherry (Garry) Friesen of Taber; granddaughters Kyilee Friesen of Red Deer, Jolene (Ryan) Badura of Taber; great grandson, the “sunshine of her life” Jaxson Badura of Taber.
She was predeceased by her parents Frank and Mary Kisari; parents-in-law Frank and Barbara Szlavik; her only sister Mary Bodnar; brother-in-law Frank Bodnar; nephew Allan Bodnar.
Life’s journey began in Barnwell where Betty was born on February 19, 1938. She attended school in Barnwell until moving to Taber with her family. Betty met Frank Slavik in 1955 and they married in 1958 and together they settled in the Crowsnest Pass. In 1989 they retired and moved back to Taber where they resided until the time of her passing.
Her joys in life were her faith, family and many friends. Betty’s talents were singing, baking, cooking and sewing. Her favourite sport was curling. Betty was involved in many activities such as volunteering at extendicare and many other places. She was a member of the Choralaires, U.C.W. and the Keep Fit Program. Her coffee group was a very important part of her life. Betty’s greatest gift to her family was her beautiful smile, caring, kind and gentle ways. She had a very positive look on life and was a friend to all she knew. Betty was a great inspiration to us all. Her memory will forever be in our hearts.
