ELEANOR COOK

1921 - 2004

Eleanor Fay Cook, longtime Taber resident, passed away at the Lethbridge Regional Hospital on Saturday, January 3, 2004 at the age of 82 years.  
Eleanor, the youngest of seven children, was born September 26, 1921 in Cardston, Alberta. Eleanor married Stanley Cook on December 21, 1944. They lived in Raymond, Alberta until 1954 when the family moved to Taber where she started teaching at the Old Central School. After the children were raised, Eleanor completed her teaching degree and taught second grade in the Taber School District until her retirement in 1981. Eleanor enjoyed many activities which included traveling, quilting, gardening and shopping for bargains, but her great love in life was her family, especially her grandchildren. Eleanor took great pride in caring for her garden and yard. She will always be remembered for her generosity to family, friends, and community. She was a faithful member of the LDS Church throughout her life and served in numerous positions.  
Eleanor is survived by her three children and spouses; Florian (Linda) Cook of Lethbridge, Marya (Willard) Sommerfeldt of Draper, Utah, Donald (Kaye) Cook of Seattle, Washington; two step-children LaDean (Lowell) Layton of Moses Lake, Washington and Berna Hasenberg of Salt Lake City, Utah; 28 grandchildren;  64 great grandchildren; 3 great great grandchildren; two sisters Verena Crawford and Fern Carlson of Cardston; one brother Howard (Mildred) Stutz of Provo, Utah and sisters-in-law Gladys Stutz of Midvale, Utah and Hazel Hood of Calgary.
Eleanor was predeceased by her husband Stanley Cook, parents Rueben and Clara Stutz, step-children Robert Cook, Janet Russell, great grandchildren Keri Shideler, Evan Landrum and brothers Leo, Clifford and Rowan.  
Friends and family are invited to meet with the family on Thursday, January 8, 2004 from 7:00 to 9:00 P.M. at the Southland Funeral Chapel (5006-48 Ave.) Taber or on Friday, January 9, 2004 from 9:30 A.M. to 10:30 A.M. at the Church of Jesus Christ Of Latter-day Saints (5314-54 St.) Taber.  
The Funeral Service will be held at the Church at 11:00 A.M. with Bishop Bruce Francis officiating.  Interment to follow in the Taber Memorial Garden.  
Flowers gratefully declined. If friends so desire, memorial tributes may be made to the charity of one's choice.
