ETHIS CONRAD

1916 - 2004

Ethis Conrad, beloved wife of Louis Herbert Conrad, was called home by a loving Heavenly Father on March 5, 2004, after many years of declining health.
Ethis was born in Taber, Alberta on June 21, 1916, the 5th child of Earl Noble Harding and Ruby Rice Lyons Harding.  As she was growing up, her best friends were her siblings, and especially her sisters. As a young woman, she often worked in the homes of families in the community. At one such home, she met the brother-in-law of the lady of the house, a handsome, curly headed young man who soon won her heart. She married her eternal sweetheart and companion, Louis Herbert Conrad on March 26, 1937, in the L.D.S. Temple at Cardston, Alberta. If she had lived for three more weeks, they would have been celebrating 67 years of being married. Mom worked hard, along side dad, through many trials and moves, living frugally and doing her best to keep her home clean and her family provided for. She loved to garden, and was an excellent cook. She also loved to sing, and taught her children to harmonize in song, as we worked around the house, or traveled together in the car. They lived in many communities, as dad's work required, including Taber, Magrath, High River and Calgary in Alberta, and Lillooet, Gibsons, and Riondel in B.C., leaving many loyal friends behind in each community as they served the church and their fellow man.
In passing, Ethis leaves behind to mourn, her husband, Louis, her children Rita (Dale) Lusk of Lethbridge, Jeanette Cannady of Raymond, Judy (Murray) Craig of Calgary, Larry (Beryl) of Claresholm, Doug (Wendy) of Calgary and Burt (Kathi) of Orem, Utah.  She also has 25 grandchildren; 43 great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.  She is also survived by her siblings Naida (Ken) Walton of Cardston, Fay (George) Gibson of Boulder, Colorado, Leonard (Alice) Harding of Calgary, Don (Pat) Harding of Taber and Jesse Harding of Taber.
She was predeceased by her parents and siblings Delwin Harding, Thora Maynes, Beulah Conrad, Alene Burgi, Lela Harding, Madge Harding, Vernon Harding and Kenneth Harding. Also by her children Mary, as an infant, and Myrna from polio at age 13 and one infant granddaughter.
We love you mom, and we will miss you, but we are happy that you are now pain free, at peace, and reunited with so many loved ones who went on ahead.
The Funeral Service will be held at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Taber Stake Centre, 4709-50 Ave., on Tuesday, March 9, 2004 at 2:00 P.M. with Bishop Ray Gardner conducting. Interment will follow in the Taber Memorial Garden.
Those who wish to meet with the family may do so at the Southland Funeral Chapel (5006-48 Ave.) Taber on Monday, March 8 from 7:00 to 8:00 P.M. or in the Relief Society Room of the Church from 12:45 to 1:45 P.M., just prior to the service.
The family respectfully requests that in lieu of flowers, remember Ethis by donating to the Heart & Stroke Foundation of Alberta, 209, 542-7 Street South, Lethbridge, Alberta T1J 2H1, S.T.A.R.S. 1441 Aviation Park N.E., P.O. Box 570, Calgary, Alberta T2E 8M7 or other worthy charity of your choice.
