VERNA BODIE
1913 - 2000
Verna Bodie, beloved wife of Watson Bodie of Taber, passed away on Tuesday, March 14, 2000 at the age of 86 years.
Verna was born the daughter of Richard and Charlotte Westaway at Yellow Grass, Saskatchewan on September 10, 1913. She was married by her father Reverend R.J. Westaway on June 19, 1934 to Watson Bodie. They have celebrated sixty five years of happy marriage together. Verna was an active member of the U.C.W. at Knox United Church where she also led the choir and played the organ for many years. She was well known for musical talent and played for many weddings and funerals. One of her proudest accomplishments was a native choir which she organized and led. Verna formed and was president of the Ladies of Kiwanis in Taber and most recently received the Senior Citizen of the Year Award.
Verna will be forever remembered in the hearts of her beloved husband Watson; son Ron (Anne) Bodie of Calgary; daughter Judy (Richard) Berube of Calgary; grandchildren Daryl, Pam and Kent (JoAnn); great grandchildren Kayla, Colby and Kyle; sister Ruth Shea of Florida; brother Richard Westaway of Burlington, Ontario and also by numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
She was predeceased by a grandson Scott Collum and a brother Gideon Westaway.
The Funeral Service was held at Knox United Church, 4929 - 50 Avenue, Taber on Thursday, March 16, 2000 at 2:00 P.M. with Reverend Ken Crassweller officiating. Interment followed at the Taber Memorial Garden.
