TOMMY KIMMITT
1919 - 2000
Thomas Benedict Kimmitt, beloved husband of Adeline Kimmitt, passed away in Bow Island on February 14, 2000 at the age of 80 years.
Tommy was born March 24, 1919 in rural Bow Island, the son of John and Katherine Kimmitt. He served for the 8th Canadian Reconnaissance during WWII and was honorably discharged in 1946. When he came home he married Adeline and together they began farming land near Foremost, where he has remained until the time of his passing.
Tommy was proud to be a member of the Royal Canadian Legion and enjoyed to talk about what life was like in the war. He was a family orientated man and always enjoyed the company of his daughters and his grandchildren. He will be sadly missed by his family and friends.
Besides his loving wife Adeline, Tommy leaves to cherish his memory two daughters, Sandra Jensen and Marilyn Kimmitt both of Banff; two grandchildren Trevor and Lexie Jensen of Banff; a brother Clyde (Christina) Kimmitt; four sisters Zyla Wentz, Thelma O’Donnell, June Judkins, Lula (Tom) Kinnell as well as numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Tommy was predeceased by an infant brother Arlo and his brothers Harold, Ward, Lyle as well as a sister Inez Kambeitz.
Relatives and friends were invited to Prayers at St. Michael’s Catholic Church, Bow Island on Thursday, February 17, 2000 at 7:00 P.M.
The Funeral Mass was celebrated at St. Michael’s Catholic Church, Bow Island on Friday, February 18, 2000 at 1:00 P.M. with Reverend Dominic Nguyen Celebrant. Interment followed at the Bow Island Cemetery.
