MARY KRCHNAK
1914 - 2001
Mary Krchnak of Taber, passed away on Saturday, May 19, 2001 at the age of 87 years.
Mary was born on April 19, 1914 at Vandergrift, Pennsylvania, USA. At the age of five she went to Czechoslovakia where she lived until the age of sixteen when she came to Canada. She married Leonard Krchnak in 1932 residing in Calgary. They later moved to Taber in 1950 where they purchased the Red & White (Len’s Mayfair) Grocery Store. In 1960 she retired with her husband and remained in Taber. Mary was a longtime member of the C.W.L. and spent many winters in El Paso, Texas.
Mary will be forever remembered by her daughter Alyse (George) Mitchler of Taber; a daughter-in-law Louise Krchnak of Calgary; her grandchildren, George Mitchler of Taber, Gary Mitchler of Amarillo, Texas, Theresa (George) Demaree of Memphis, Tenn., Timothy Mitchler of Denver, Colo., Lisa (Gene) Brown of El Paso, Texas, Patrick (Susan) Krchnak of Taber, Michael (Sandra) Krchnak of Taber, Roger (Heather) Krchnak of Abu Dhabi, U.A.E. and Marina (David) Boyko of Calgary; eighteen great-grandchildren and four great-great-granddaughters.
Mary was predeceased by her son Len Jr. in 1989; her husband Leonard in 1992; one sister and four brothers.
Relatives and friends were invited for Prayers at Southland Funeral Chapel, 5006 - 48 Avenue, Taber on Friday, May 25, 2001 at 7:00 P.M. recited by Mike & Yvette Whalen.
The Funeral Mass was celebrated at St. Augustine’s Catholic Church, 5009 - 48 Avenue, Taber on Saturday, May 26, 2001 at 10:30 A.M. with Reverend Jim de los Angeles celebrant. Interment followed at the Taber Memorial Garden.
