BETTY CONRAD
1913 - 2005
Lila Elizabeth "Betty" Conrad of Taber, beloved wife of the late Elmer Conrad, passed away on Thursday, August 18, 2005 at the age of 91 years.
Betty was born to parents George and Emma MacKillican on August 31, 1913 in Purple Springs, Alberta. She received her schooling there and later attended Normal School in Camrose. She returned to Purple Springs where she taught school and on October 30, 1937 she married Elmer Conrad. They farmed south of Taber where they raised a family of seven children. Betty was a member of the Lady Lions and the Kinniburgh Women's Institute along with canvassing for the Canadian Cancer Society and the Red Cross. While living in Taber she was involved with the Taber Library and Meals on Wheels.
Betty will be forever remembered by her seven children Keith (Carole) Conrad of Calgary, Carolyn LaFontaine of San Francisco, Bill (Shirley) Conrad of Vermilion, Ron (Bonnie) Conrad of Pincher Creek, Norman Conrad of Victoria, B.C., Brian (Evelyn) Conrad of Taber and Elaine Conrad of Lethbridge; twenty-two grandchildren; sixteen great grandchildren and two sisters Marjorie McLeod and Helen McAndrews both of Lethbridge. She was predeceased by her husband Elmer, two brothers Jack and Bill MacKillican and two sisters Isabel Carr and Georgina Wollen.
The Funeral Service will be held at Knox United Church, 4929-50 Ave., Taber on Tuesday, August 23, 2005 at 2:00 P.M. with Reverend Jim Lochhead officiating. Interment will follow in the Taber Memorial Garden.
