JAMES SPENCE
1910 - 2001
James Patrick Spence, beloved husband of Catherine Spence of Taber, passed away on Saturday, January 13, 2001 at the age of 90 years.
Jim was born at Belfast, Ireland on November 13, 1910. In 1912 he came to Canada with his parents and three older brothers settling Fielding, Saskatchewan. He was a water vendor at Meadow Lake, Saskatchewan until 1957 when he began farming there and in 1974 retired to Taber. He was predeceased by his first wife Dell in 1976 and on December 3, 1984 he married Catherine Bagozzi.
He will be sadly missed by his wife Catherine of Taber; son Tom (Isabel) Spence of Calgary; son-in-law Gail Fitch of Taber; stepchildren Olga (Gabriel) Brissard of Viking, Evelyn Guhle of Daysland, Ray (Mildred) Bagozzi of Vulcan and Marlene (David) Grant of Taber; grandchildren Lynn, Guy, Gary, Grant, Reale, Laurie, Lynette, Carmen, Giraud, Tracy, Shelly, Corri, Jennifer, Gary, Jerry, Shari, Jason and Carley.
He was predeceased by his first wife Dell; daughter Ruby Fitch; grandson Ross; three sisters and three brothers.
The Funeral Service was held at the Southland Funeral Chapel, 5006 - 48 Avenue, Taber on Monday, January 15, 2001 at 2:00 P.M. with Reverend Jim Lochhead officiating. Interment followed in the Taber Memorial Garden.
