ANDREW CHONTOSH
1926 - 2001
Andrew Chontosh, beloved husband of Anne Chontosh of Taber, passed away in Calgary on Thursday, January 11, 2001 at the age of 74 years.
Andy was born at Torjan, Yugoslavia on April 17, 1926 to Andrew and Mary Chontosh. Andy immigrated to Canada with his mother and two sisters in July 1938 to join his father Andrew who had immigrated to Canada in 1929. The family lived in the Barnwell area on the Francis farm. In 1947 he purchased his first farm and on January 31, 1950 he married Anne Boras. In 1951 they purchased a farm, where the family resides today. His greatest love was operating the family farm with his sons. Andy was a long time member of the Royal Canadian Legion, the Knights Of Colombus and the Moose Lodge. Andy was a “people person” who enjoyed visiting and socializing.
He will be sadly missed and forever remembered by his wife Anne; children Diane (Ken) Koshgarian of Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, David Chontosh of Taber, grandchildren Shane and Jamie and special friend Joni Leduc of Taber, Cathy Chontosh of Calgary, Wally Chontosh of Taber and Paul (Pam) Chontosh and grandchildren Hayley and Brooke of Taber; two sisters Mary Horvath and Katie (Joe) Milder both of Taber and also by numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was predeceased by son Tommy; infant brother Paul; sister Anne; brother-in-law Urban Horvath; parents Andy and Mary and by father-in-law and mother-in-law Mike and Katie Boras.
Relatives and Friends were invited to Prayers at St. Augustine’s Catholic Church, 5009 - 48 Avenue, Taber on Sunday, January 14, 2001 at 7:00 P.M.
The Funeral Mass was celebrated at St. Augustine’s Catholic Church, 5009 - 48 Avenue, Taber on Monday, January 15, 2001 at 10:30 A.M. with Reverend Jim de los Angeles Celebrant. Interment followed in the Taber Memorial Garden.
