DEAN COOMBS
1927 - 2007
Mr. Daniel Dean Coombs of Taber, beloved husband of Mrs. Vi Coombs, passed away on Tuesday, April 10, 2007 at the age of 79 years.
Dean was born at Warner on June 9, 1927, the son of Frank and Myrtle Coombs. Dean received his schooling in Warner after which he attended Calgary Tech (S.A.I.T.) in mechanics. He worked in Warner as a mechanic until 1962 when he moved to Taber to work for Price Bros. Texaco. He later worked at McDonald Chevrolet retiring in 1980. Dean and Vi moved to Picture Butte in 1996 returning to Taber in 2006. Dean had a love of music from the time he was a young boy. He played in bands as a drummer from the age of 12 and throughout the following years. He also had a passion for airplanes and motorcycles.
Besides his loving wife Vi, Dean is survived by his children Dale (Lana), Rod (Linda) and Wendy (Bud) Heidinger all of Taber and Cindy (Darrell) Schafer of Medicine Hat; seven grandchildren and three great grandchildren; two sisters Alice Dunk of Lethbridge and Goldie Dickson of Vancouver and a brother Bill (Judy) Coombs of Ottawa. He is also survived by Vi’s children Roger (Nadine) Skretting of Vauxhall and Cathy (Jerry) Doell of Taber; seven grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.
Dean was predeceased by a brother Ben Coombs and stepson Dennis Skretting.
The Funeral Service will be held at the Southland Funeral Chapel, 5006 - 48 Avenue, Taber on Friday, April 13, 2007 at 2:00 P.M. with Pastor Wes Midgett officiating.
