SHIRLEY REID
1930 - 2002
Shirley Jean Reid (nee Dayton), beloved wife of Jim Reid of Taber, passed away at the Taber Hospital and went to be with our Lord and Savior on August 3, 2002 at the age of 72 years.
Besides her loving husband Jim, Shirley is survived by a sister Joyce (Harry) Wolosuk of Vauxhall; a brother Jack (Donna) Dayton of Victoria; three children Bob (Elvina) Parker of Coaldale, Laurie (Blair) Lowry of Taber and Jim (Susan) Reid of Vauxhall; grandchildren Kendra, Dean and Daryl Parker, Blaine and Blake Lowry and Carly Reid.
She was predeceased by her father John Gilman Dayton in 1982, her mother Mary Elsie Dayton in 1993 and her first husband Donald Parker in 1962.
Shirley was born on March 28, 1930 at St. Stephen, New Brunswick. She married Jim Reid in 1966 and lived on the farm near Vauxhall until 1998 when they moved to Taber. She was very active in the work of the United Church as an Explorer leader for a number of years. She also took an active part in UCW for many years and later was made a life member. Shirley enjoyed music, loved to dance, curl and golf. She took special pride in her children and grandchildren.
The Funeral Service was held at the Vauxhall Mennonite Brethren Church, 320 - 9 Street North, Vauxhall on Thursday, August 8, 2002 at 2:00 P.M. with Reverend Aldeen McKay, United Church of Canada, officiating. Interment followed in the Vauxhall Cemetery.
