OSCAR TORGENSON
1919 - 2002
Oscar Torgerson, beloved husband of the late Rachel Torgerson, passed away at Fort Saskatchewan, Alberta on Wednesday, May 29, 2002 at the age of 82 years.
Oscar was born in Burdett on September 23, 1919 the son of Edward and Ellen Torgerson. He attended school at Jasman and Brownsdale Schools. He joined the Royal Canadian Air Force in 1941 and served his country for four years before being discharged in 1945. A few years later he met his future wife, Rachel Wilson. They were married on October 14, 1953. Through the years he had resided in Calgary, Edmonton, Claresholm and Yorkton, Saskatchewan. Oscar settled in the Burdett area where he farmed for many years.
Oscar will be forever remembered and cherished by his two daughters Dora Warren of Bow Island and Sharon (Ralph) Bateman of Bow Island; four grandchildren Nina (Jack) Johnson of Lethbridge, Debbie (Mark) Scanlon of Calgary, Dawn (Andy) Olsvik of Edson and Dale (Gwen) Bateman of Calgary; seven great-grandchildren Aaron, Megan, Wyatt, Ashley Justin, Nakita and Dalanee. Oscar is also survived by his friend, Elsie of Fort Saskatchewan and her family.
He was predeceased by his wife Rachel on December 24, 1989; a son-in-law Donald Warren; a granddaughter Donna Tyerman and her husband Gord Tyerman.
The Funeral Service was held at the Burdett United Church, Burdett on Monday, June 3, 2002 at 2:00 P.M. with Reverend Jeff Crittenden officiating.
