MARY TRABER
1901 - 1999
Our dear mother and grandmother, Mary Traber, went home to be with her Lord on Thursday, June 3, 1999 at the age of 97 years, beloved wife of the late Hermann Traber. She passed away peacefully at the Taber Extended Care.
Mary was born December 8, 1901 in Orenburg, Russia. She came to Canada with her parents in 1926. She met and married Hermann Traber in 1927. Mary spent many happy years with her husband and boys on a farm near Coaldale.
Mary is survived by her four sons John and Liz Traber of Calgary, Frank and Anne Traber of Coaldale, Henry and Elfrieda Traber of Calgary, Bill and Marg Traber of Barnwell. She is also survived by her thirteen grandchildren Bernice Shumlich (Greg), Terry Whitehead (Cal), Dale Traber (Sheryl), Dennis Traber (Brenda), Sharon Ardell (Rob), Rick Traber, Russ Traber (Carrie), Debbie Giesbrecht (Vic), Denise Plett (Steve), Keith Traber (Susanne), Mark Traber, Stuart Traber (Kari), Shauna Traber and twenty five great grandchildren and by her sister Katie Burkhart of Lethbridge.
She was predeceased by her husband Hermann on April 10, 1970, her parents Jacob and Helena Loewen, four brothers and four sisters.
Mary loved her family first and foremost, she loved cooking and gardening. She loved the fellowship she had with the ladies during her time at the Villa in Coaldale and also at the Sunny South Lodge. She resided at the Taber Extended care since April 23, 1996. During her illness, Mom’s life was truly enriched by the staff and volunteers there. We as family shall never forget you. She loved you and we know you loved her. You were part of her family. A big hug and thank-you from Mom and all of us.
Relatives and friends were invited to pay their respects in the hall of the church from 10:15 A.M. to 10:45 A.M. prior to the funeral service.
The Funeral Service was held at the Coaldale Mennonite Brethren Church, 2114 - 18 Street, Coaldale on Monday, June 7, 1999 at 11:00 A.M. with Pastor Lorne Willms officiating and Pastor Rudy Heidebrecht co-officiating. Interment followed at the Coaldale Cemetery.
