JAKE RIEDIGER
1933 - 2002
Following a courageous and lengthy struggle, Jake Riediger of Vauxhall, went to be with his Lord at the St. Michael’s Palliative Care Unit in Lethbridge on Monday, April 22, 2002 at the age of 69 years.
Jake was born at Stavely on January 11, 1933 and was the son of David and Neta Riediger (nee Isaac) and received his schooling at Vauxhall. Jake worked with Calgary Power stringing lines and later became a heavy equipment operator working in the Vauxhall area, as well as in Northern Alberta. In his spare time he enjoyed fishing , but his church was the main focus of his life. He worked with the Christian Service Brigade of the Mennonite Brethren Church.
Jake is survived by seven brothers and sisters Kaye (George) Haggith of Bellingham, Washington, Lydia White of Wetaskiwin, twin sister Mary (John) Row of Prince George, B.C., Margaret (Abe) Rempel of Vauxhall, Shirley (Dean) Bengry of Lethbridge, David (Marj) of Brooks and Kornelius (Dorothy) Quesnel, B.C. and also by numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
He was predeceased by his parents; brother-in-law George White and nephews Jackie Row and Tony Rempel.
Relatives and friends were invited to meet with the family at the Southland Funeral Chapel, 5006 - 48 Avenue Taber, on Thursday, April 25, 2002 from 8:30 P.M. to 9:30 P.M.
The Funeral Service was held at the Vauxhall Mennonite Brethren Church, 320 - 9 Street North, Vauxhall on Friday, April 26, 2002 at 2:00 P.M. with Pastors, Bill Glaspell, Leo Siemens and Rudy Heidebrecht officiating. Interment followed in the Vauxhall Mennonite Cemetery.
