SUSANNA KOPERVAS

1909 - 2002

Susanna Kopervas, beloved wife of the late George Kopervas, passed away in Taber on Tuesday, April 16, 2002 at the age of 92 years.
Susanna was born on July 27, 1909 in Rebrin, Czechoslovakia, the daughter of Mike and Susan Matty. On November 26, 1925 she married George Kopervas. She remained in Czechoslovakia with their daughter while George moved to Canada. On November 25, 1933 Susanna and their daughter came to Canada and reunited with George, settling in Barnwell. She was a very hard worker and worked right along side her husband from dusk until dawn. Susan was a happy homemaker and enjoyed all of the tasks involved with raising a family. She loved to cook and bake for her family and was always willing to lend a helping hand to others. In her spare time she enjoyed to garden and will be fondly remembered by her friends and family as an avid bingo player. Susan was affectionatley known to many as ‘Baba’ and will be cherished in the hearts of her family.
Susan is survived by her children, Annie Kelley of Detroit, Michigan; George (Evelyn) Kopervas of Hays and Johnny (Margaret) Kopervas of Lethbridge; fourteen grandchildren and thirty great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her husband George in 1979; and infant daughter, Mary; a son-in-law, John Kelley and three grandchildren.
Relatives and friends were invited for Prayers at the Southland Funeral Chapel, 5006 - 48 Avenue, Taber on Thursday, April 18, 2002 at 7:00 P.M.
The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Augustine’s Catholic Church, 5009 - 48 Avenue, Taber on Friday, April 19 at 10:30 A.M. with Reverend Jim de los Angeles Celebrant. Interment followed in the Taber Memorial Garden.
