1930 - 2003

Gabriella (Ella) Poznikoff (Tajcnar) passed away peacefully November 4, 2003 at the Foothills Hospital with her family at her side.
She is survived by her loving husband, Harry, after 46 years of marriage; her daughter Cathy (Dale) Osborne; her sons Dr. Ken Poznikoff and Dr. Gordon Poznikoff (Angela); nine grandchildren Gordon, David and Jonathon; Krista, Andrew and Karla; Cole, Taylor-Rae and Alexandra; brothers Frank, Rudy (Rose), Peter (Wilma) and Bill (Shirley); sister-in-law Liz Tajcnar and numerous nieces and nephews. She is also survived by Harry’s sisters and brothers Polly (Paul), Helen (Murray), John (Elaine) and Nick (Linda).
She was predeceased by her father Gabriel Tajcnar (June 6,1993), her mother Anastasia Tajcnar (January 1, 2000) and her brother Gabriel (October 17, 1998).
Ella was born November 24, 1930 in Dubova, Czechoslovakia. She came to Barnwell in 1931. During her life she had many diverse accomplishments including nursing, business owner, college administrator and florist. Ella dedicated her life to her family. As a wife, mother, grandmother and auntie she was always proud of everyone’s accomplishments. Ella was the best, most loving GRANDMOTHER any child could ask for. She spent as much time as possible with her precious grandchildren. The family was very grateful for the extraordinary care Ella received and would like to acknowledge the following people: To Dr. W. Warnica, a skilled, dedicated, cardiologist, who is an inspiration to his profession and patients. Through the years as Ella’s cardiologist he became a special friend who went far beyond the call of duty for Ella and her family. To Dr. T. Kieser, her compassion and dedication to her field gave Ella that one last ray of hope. To the wonderful, skilled coronary I.C.U. nurses, staff and physicians for their dedication, professionalism and kindness, you will never be forgotten.
Relatives and friends were invited for Prayers at the Southland Funeral Chapel, 5006 - 48 Avenue, Taber on Friday, November 7, 2003 at 7:00 P.M.
The Funeral Mass was celebrated at St. Augustine’s Catholic Church, 5009 - 48 Avenue, Taber on Saturday, November 8 at 10:00 A.M. with Reverend Mariusz Sztuk SDS Celebrant. Interment followed in the Taber Memorial Garden.
In memory of Ella a donation may be made to the Gabriella Poznikoff Coronary I.C.U. Nurses Education Trust Fund. Donations are made payable to Calgary Health Trust-Foothills Unit 103 Education Fund.
