MARGARET SUTTON
1918 - 2003
Margaret Sutton, formerly of Vauxhall, beloved wife of the late Claud Sutton, passed away on Sunday, March 30, 2003 at the age of 84 years.
Margaret was born on July 6, 1918, the middle of five daughters born to Charles and Hilma Munro. After completing her high school at Trossach, Saskatchewan, she moved to Scandia, Alberta where she met her future husband, Claud Sutton. They married in October of 1940. They moved to Medicine Hat for a short time and in 1948 they moved to Vauxhall. Margaret worked at the Post Office for 22 years, retiring in 1979. She was active in the United Church where she taught Sunday School and was a C.G.I.T. Leader. Margaret loved to sing and was long time choir member of the United Church where she had been a member since 1952. She was a member of the Astrea Chapter of the Eastern Star and also belonged to the Vauxhall Seniors Club. Claud and Margaret retired in 1979 and spent time travelling, camping and fishing with friends and relatives. Their most memorable trips included an Alaskan cruise, touring the Maritimes and Hawaii. They resided in Vauxhall until health reasons encouraged a move to Taber in 1997.
Margaret is survived by her loving family; daughter Bea (Egon) Engel of Eckville and their children, Shannon (Michael) of Red Deer and David (Robyn) of Calgary; son Del (Marnie) Sutton of Vauxhall and their children Karen (Mark) of Edmonton, Chris of
Sackville, N.B. and Leah (Wade) of Taber; 6 great grandchildren Nicki, Ryan, Sydney, Avery, Eric and Ian; four sisters Vera Bissett of Weyburn, Saskatchewan, Agnes (Al) Brooks of West Vancouver, Beatrice (Cam) Sylvester of Edmonton and Lorraine (Lloyd) Moore of Trossach, Saskatchewan; two sisters-in-law Theresa Bowers of Cardston and Dorothy Sutton of Calgary and also by numerous nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband Claud, parents Charles and Hilma Munro, parents-in-law Bert and Hattie Sutton, brothers-in-law Tom Sylvester, Melvin Bissett, Vernon Sutton and Dallas Bowers.
Relatives and friends were invited to meet with the family at the Southland Funeral Chapel, 5006 - 48 Avenue, Taber on Thursday, April 3, 2003 from 7:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M.
The Funeral Service was held at the Parkview United Church, 712 - 3 Avenue North, Vauxhall on Friday, April 4, 2003 at 1:00 P.M. with Pastor Dan Doerksen officiating. Interment followed in the Vauxhall Cemetery.
