JEAN KIRKVOLD
1915 - 1998
Jean Kirkvold passed away in Taber on Monday, June 8, 1998 at the age of 82 years.
Jean was born at Taber on September 2, 1915 the daughter of William & Elizabeth Black. She received her schooling in Taber and later moved to Manyberries where she worked as a cook. She met and married Peter Kirkvold and continued to live in Manyberries before retiring to Taber in 1949. In 1953 they moved to the farm at Barnwell. After the passing of her husband in 1976, Jean lived in various places throughout Southern Alberta. During the last few years, she has resided in Taber living at Pioneer Place, Clearview Lodge and the Continuing Care Unit.
Jean is survived by a son Bill (Donna) Kirkvold of Lethbridge and their children Terry (Shelley) Kirkvold of Lethbridge and Cheryl (Craig) Martens of Calgary; a son Ron (Lyn) Kirkvold of Taber and their children Shantelle (Trevor) McMurray of Rimbey and Deedra Deveau and her special friend Doug Oscar of Bruderheim, Alberta; a daughter Pat (Neil) Jones of Taber and their children Kari (Tim) Donnelly of St. Albert and Brad (Joan) Jones of Grassy Lake. Jean is also survived by a brother Bob Black of Vancouver; two sisters Ann Richardson and Christina Kazlo both of Abbotsford British Columbia; fourteen great grandchildren as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Besides her husband Peter, Jean was predeceased by two brothers Tom and Bill Black and four sisters Margaret Stratton, Mary Todd, Nettie Black and Elizabeth Black.
The Funeral Service was held at Southland Funeral Chapel, 5006 - 48 Avenue, Taber on Thursday, June 11, 1998 at 3:00 P.M. with Reverend Ken Crassweller officiating.
