Florence was born in the “old Galt Hospital” in Lethbridge on New Years day 1940 to Wallace and Mary (nee Warren) Turnbull. She married Clarence Kunz of Bow Island on July 18, 1957 in St. Luke’s Anglican Church in Grassy Lake. They lived in Grassy Lake until 1976 when they moved to Taber where she has resided until the time of her passing.
Nana, also known as Grama Flo, thought her children, grandchildren and great grand babies were special and she loved them dearly. She was always ready to play with the little ones. I’m sure all of us listened to a story book, read on Grama’s lap, in her magic chair.
Florence was a member of St. Theodore’s Anglican Church. Over the years she served on the Church Vestry, the Altar Guild, Women’s Auxiliary, was a Warden and for many years sang in the church choir.
Florence enjoyed being a member of the Royal Purple of Canada, joining Lodge #230 in Taber and later transferring to Lethbridge Lodge #32. She held many offices on the Lodge level, was District Deputy three times, was on several national committees and being a National Lodge Officer, even working herself up to second vice president before have to resign because of her health. Florence was also a member of the Ladies of the Moose.
If friends so desire, memorial tributes in Florence’s name may be made directly to the Kidney Foundation of Canada, Suite 400, 740 - 4 Avenue South, Lethbridge, Alberta T1J 0N9 or to the Elks & Royal Purple Fund for Children, 100, 2629 - 29 Avenue, Regina, Saskatchewan S4S 2N9.
