Ray is survived by his children Chancelor Ficek of Taber, Kaya, Brooke and Chase Ficek of Coaldale; father Ron Ficek of Taber; sister Michelle (Doug) Cranston of Taber and their children Jaiden, Taryn and Jaxson. He is also survived by his grandparents Carla (Herb) Mason of Kenora, Ontario, Frank (Kathy) Ficek of White Rock, British Columbia; uncles Jamie (Cynthia) Delaney and their children, Darcy (Sheila) Delaney and their children and Jason (April) Ficek and their children all of Kenora, Ontario; aunts Gayle (John) Elders of Kenora, Ontario, Karen Hall and her children of Dryden, Ontario, Heather Beatty and her children of Grande Prairie.

He was predeceased by his mother Marie Ficek.

Ray was born on March 5, 1976 in Taber where he was raised. He made many friends throughout his school years and through various sporting activities which included hockey, baseball, basketball and volleyball. Ray began working in the oilfield at an early age. This was something he thoroughly enjoyed as he acquired many life skills and friendships along the way. Some of Ray’s favorite  hobbies included camping with his dad, dirt biking, skateboarding with neighborhood kid’s and working with his hands on different building and repairing projects. Ray’s greatest achievement in life was and will always be his four beautiful children. The family also wishes to extend their gratitude to Emma, a very special friend who lifted Ray’s spirits during his courageous battle. He will be sorely missed by many close family and friends.

If friends so desire, memorial tributes in Ray’s name may be made directly to the South Country Treatment Centre, P.O. Box 1418, Lethbridge, Alberta T1J 4K2.
