CHARLES BRANTNER

1928 - 1999

Charles Brantner, beloved husband of Carol Brantner of Taber, passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 10, 1999 at the age of 70 years following a lengthy and courageous battle with cancer.
Charles was born December 3, 1928 in Lethbridge and grew up on the family farm at Wrentham. After finishing high school in Wrentham he attended Calgary Tech for two years and took Agriculture Mechanics. In the winter of 1951 he went to Lincoln Electric in Cleveland studying Arc Welding.
Charles married Carol Sullivan (nee Hamling) on March 31, 1967 living in Wrentham where they farmed and raised their family. In 1990 Charles and Carol retired from farming and moved to Taber.
Charles played baseball for the Wrentham Red Sox in the Sunshine League and also enjoyed curling, golfing and hunting with his good friends. Throughout the years he enjoyed his summers trailering and fishing in Waterton Lakes with family and friends and also enjoyed the last twelve winters in Mesa, Arizona golfing and hiking.
Charles was a member of the Warner BPOE Elks, President of the Wrentham Lions Club in 1972, served on many boards and helped his community and neighbors when called upon.
Charles is survived by his loving wife Carol; his children Dan (Carol) Brantner of Calgary; Barb Millar of Burlington, Ontario and Ken (Wendy) Brantner of Wrentham and special grandchildren Amanda and Kyle of Calgary; Kaitlyn, Kristen and Andrew of Burlington, Ontario; Dakotah and K.C. of Wrentham; his sisters Barbara (George) Virginillo of Readymade and Joanne (Barry) Lorencz of Lethbridge; brothers Ted (Donna), Jerry (Judy) and Lloyd (Beryl) all of Wrentham; his father and mother-in-law Howard and Mary Hamling of Warner; brothers and sisters-in-law and also by numerous nieces, nephews, aunts and cousins.
Charles was predeceased by his father and mother Chris and Elna Brantner; brother-in-law Dennis Hamling; nephew Chad Lorencz and seven uncles.
A Memorial Service will be held at the Wrentham Community Church, Wrentham on Monday, July 19, 1999 at 11:00 A.M. with Pastor Jim Chapman officiating. Interment followed at the Wrentham Cemetery.
