Abe Dyck

1955 - 2024

It is with heavy but also rejoicing hearts, that the family of Abraham Dyck, announce the passing of a loving husband, father and grandfather, who went home to be with the Lord on Monday, March 18, 2024 at the age of 69 years.

Relatives and friends were invited to meet with the family at the Taber Evangelical Church (formerly the Evangelical Mennonite Church), 5001 - 64 Avenue, Taber on Thursday, March 21, 2024 between 7:00 P.M. and 8:00 P.M.

The Funeral Service was held at the Taber Evangelical Church (formerly the Evangelical Mennonite Church), 5001 - 64 Avenue, Taber on Friday, March 22, 2024 at 1:30 P.M. Burial followed at the Taber Memorial Garden. 

Abe will be greatly missed by his wife Katharina and their children Margaret (Ike) Wiebe of Taber and their family Alyssa, Dylan, Kevin and Caylan; Tina Skidmore of Lethbridge and her family Noah, Ryan, Logan and Gavin; Anna (Henry) Klassen of Readymade and their family Nolan, Rachel, Caleb and Adam; Ben (Tina) Dyck of Purple Springs and their family Nathan, Coby and Janae; Eva (Jake) Koethler of Taber and their family Adrian, Ethan, Lucas and Silas; Priscilla Loewen of Barnwell.

Abe was born in Mexico on February 21, 1955 to Bernhard and Eva Dyck. He was the fourth oldest of thirteen children. Abe, along with his family, moved to Taber in June of 1994 where they started their new life. He spent his early years in Taber working on various farms in the area and after purchasing the Purple Cow Ice Cream Shop in 2009, Abe along with his wife Katharina spent their time scooping ice cream and being valued members of the community. He had a passion for connecting and forming relationships with people and always greeted others with a smile on his face.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the doctors and nurses at the Taber Hospital who provided care for Abe, especially these last few months.
