Nellie Ellingson

1920 - 2019

 Nellie Parry Ellingson, beloved wife of the late Earl Ellingson, passed away in Taber on Thursday, September 12, 2019 at the age of 99 years.  

 A private burial service was held at the Taber Memorial Garden.

Relatives and friends were invited to meet with the family at the church prior to the service at 10:00 A.M.

The funeral service was held at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Taber Stake Centre, 4709 - 50 Avenue, Taber on Tuesday, September 17, 2019 at 11:00 A.M. 

 Nellie is survived by her children Anne (Louis) Turcato of Taber, Parry (Krystyna) Ellingson of Taber, Richard (Annette) Ellingson of Innisfail, John (Janice) Ellingson of Stirling, Bronwyn (Brian) Freeze of Raymond and Robert (Paula) Ellingson of Grapevine, Texas; daughter-in-law Marilyn Ellingson of Raymond; forty seven grandchildren, one hundred and fifty two great grandchildren and twenty two great great grandchildren.

 She was predeceased by her husband Earl Ellingson, son Mark Ellingson, parents John and Kate Parry, grandchildren Mary (Colin) Tilson and Kate Ellingson as well as two great great grandbabies.

 Nellie was born in Aberscoch, Wales on February 7, 1920. Her family immigrated to Canada when she was four, and she spent the majority of her life in Taber.   Nellie married Earl Hugh Ellingson  on October 24, 1939. Together they raised seven children mostly on a small farm, “Anxious Acres”. Nellie was active in the community and in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She and Earl helped organize the annual Taber Kiwanis Music Festival and she sang in the “Choralaires” for many years. Nellie and Earl served a Family History mission in Salt Lake City. Dedicated to her family, Nellie made sure her descendants had something physical for which to remember her.  She crocheted over one hundred afghans for numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren, all who will miss her as an anchor in their lives. Nellie enjoyed crossword puzzles, listening to classical music, singing in choirs and loved reading.

 The family extends their sincere thanks to the staff of Clearview Lodge and Linden View Good Samaritans for the gracious care and devoted attention given their mother.
